Rodolfo Aricò was born in Milan in 1930 and after attending art school in Brera enrolled at the Academy and then at the Faculty of Architecture at Milan Polytechnic. His first solo exhibition dates from 1959, at the Salone dell’Annunciata in Milan; while his first participation in the Venice Biennial was in 1964, followed by a second time in 1968. In 1974 an important anthological exhibition was held at Palazzo Grassi in Venice and in 1980 Rodolfo Aricò. Mito e architettura (Rodolfo Aricò, Myth and Architecture) at Casa del Mantegna in Mantua. In 1986 Aricò took part in the group exhibition 1960/1985 Aspetti dell’arte italiana (1960/1985 Aspects of Italian Art) at the Kunstverein in Frankfurt, Berlin, Hannover, Bregenz and Vienna, to then take part in the exhibition Emotion und Method, curated in 1987 by Eberard Simons at the Galerie der Kunstler in Munich. From the 1990s to 2002, the year of his death, he exhibited in numerous shows in Italy and abroad, amongst which in Milan, Stockholm, Schwaz, Venice, Urbino and Rome.
