Biography

Art, with its most talented exponents, is generous! And this is confirmed by the truly extraordinary exhibition of works by Hidetoshi Nagasawa at Galleria Il Ponte in Florence, specifically dedicated to his 1970s oeuvre, at just under a year since the great maestro’s death. Like Kounellis, Twombly, and few others, after choosing to live and work in Italy and absorbing its aesthetic traditions, conceptualities and operating methods in his imaginary universe, without forgetting those of his own roots in Asian and Japanese culture, he proved he could metabolize both Eastern and Western poetic sources, conveying them into one of the most intensely motivated and convincing plastic languages of the second half of the twentieth century.
