    Biography

[It is Dante’s poetry, in Giulia Napoleone’s return to Il Ponte in Florence, that provides the opening to the reflection on her most recent works. While these took around two years to make, it has taken many more for the artist to arrive at a visual language which today creates images that would arouse admiration in even this greatest of poets were he in my place:
“The glory of Him, who moves all things, penetrates the universe, and glows
in one region more, in another less.”…] Bruno Corà, p.25
[…Napoleone’s art draws that part of the world that never shows its face and instead, thanks to a changing paradigm of signs traced to invent the space- time, manages to visualize it and therefore make it come to light.
Her work combines the world that shows its various faces and the hidden world perceived on the inside. It is thanks to the artist’s “assiduous uncertainty” that over and over again she is pushed to enclose a heterotopy of thought in an image, which nevertheless has nothing to do with mimesis or so-called ‘illustration’. If anything, the much more effectively directed activity of Giulia Napoleone is aimed at discovering the enigmatic essence of time-space, in a process directed both at heading into the unknown of art and into ‘self-knowledge’…] Bruno Corà, p.27
