carte, libri e film | Exhibition 2024 |
In the course of her untiring experimentation of languages, materials and disciplinary crossovers, between 1987 and 1997 Rosa Foschi made three artist’s books. Although limited in time to the relatively short span of a decade, these three works bring together themes and modalities that traverse the artist’s entire oeuvre. They embody the range of her cultural and iconographic references, the rich variety of the mediums she investigates and her versatile familiarity with the material and how to handle it. Finally, the three volumes clearly show the artist’s intrepid inclination to combine, open and overlap levels, to thereby bring to life a vast area of creative assays into the genealogy of art and scenarios of mass culture, alongside her own personal, professional and affective experiences. What emerges is a poetic aspect common to all of Foschi’s dense artistic adventures: her aspiration for art to become a total device for interpreting the world.
