On occasion of Arturo Carmassi’s 80th birthday, Galleria Il Ponte paid him homage by presenting a group of fourteen square paintings covering a vast stretch of time from 1951 to 2005.
This concise retrospective with its select masterpieces, only made possible thanks to the gallery’s longstanding partnership with the Tuscan artist, marked out the salient moments in his career spanning over fifty years. The resulting exhibition underlined the creative journey followed by a maestro of our times, who made a mark on the second half of the century just ended and, with his ongoing ability to create new artistic language, is opening out towards the new millennium.
His restless research, developed in signs, sands, reliefs and collages, has always led him to explore new territories. Carmassi’s ability to make his images come alive with his strong sense of belonging to the present results in totally modern works.
